Not a good Chinese New Year for Everyone...
After I week of school, I feel that it is safe to say that I have finally settled into the everyday routine that I used to have before the holiday. I do enjoy routine for without it I would be lying down on the couch, playing games or reading books over and over again like I used to during the holidays. This is mostly caused by my parents who are aware of the dangers of the outside, especially in a country like Indonesia. They would never fail to bring up the story of the Indonesian boy who, just after returning to Jakarta, got stabbed in the back just for a phone! They had managed to capture the killer but the verdict and sentence remains unknown to me. Instead, I get the opportunity to go back to school, where I will face busying tasks and challenging tests, two of which I have tomorrow.
I was surfing the web today and could not help but talk to you about this video I have come across on Youtube. It is basically a video about seven teenagers, presumably American, who started to beat up an Asian boy. There is a possibility that I may be bias, as I am Asian myself, but the boy seemed to be one of innocence. He has in no way provoked these boys or attempted to fight back in retaliation. He seems to be a student who has decided to move to America as a way to further his education as his English is not one of good standard. There is no discernible motive that the American boys had to attack such a student and just seemed to be causing trouble, although this could be possibly put down into interpretation. They continued to beat him up to the point of bleeding and started taking his things. It seems rather sad to me that such boys would do such a thing, even when the boy did not attack back in defence! This seems to be rather pathetic in my opinion. I urge you to see this video and feedback on what this video means to you.

I find this video clip slightly disturbing and it is because of media like these that I fear to go to America, despite what people say about its nice civilians. This is perhaps also due to movies and television shows that I have grown up with as a child. This video justifies my point about the violence in America that I often see in television shows.
In this opinion I can rightly say that I am bias myself as I have not went to America in over 10 years and what I have learnt about this since was found on the internet. I also have a special bias of Asia as I have grew up in this part of the world and I recall no acts of violence with perhaps to the exceptions of my actions, one that I regret till now.
However, there is no doubt that this is a problem for many countries, especially for big countries like America where it is hard to have a firm grip on the street gangs. However, whenever I see such videos, it always reminds me that our actions with others will always have an affect on the people we interact with and that we should always try to encourage the good out of them. I only pray that the actions I do is just and do not pose to influence an individual in a negative way.
