New Year, New Me?
There are many reasons that I can use to explain why I haven't been writing, all of which are not good enough to show that I have made an effort to try and keep up my weekly commitments. I suppose that after 7 to 8 years of writing this the metaphorical "flame" has died out.
I have also lost my touch for writing, and I feel that I am simply not bored enough to write something yet, although I do have a lot of writing ideas already, simply just waiting for me to write it on paper. I have created a murder mystery plot that I find quite interesting after watching Knives Out, which I feel is a perfect example of a murder mystery thriller movie that I took point from. All that's left is to spend some time fleshing it out.
I suppose it is a blessing that I had so much fun this holiday that I couldn't be bored enough to write. I feel that it shows an indication that I found so much better things to do with my time. Writing for me isn't really that boring as well, which goes to show how high the bar was set this holiday. I am not emotionally prepared for the holidays to end, to be honest, but I do find that I am prepared for the school year to start. I have gotten my new laptop cleared and prepared for school, and ready to take on projects although Lord knows I would give it all up for another week of holidays.
The next school year poses the problem of finding an internship and getting it approved by the school before the semester ends. I have no idea which internship I will get into, but I'm sincerely hoping for an overseas experience. I have made my semester this year very simple with only 4 classes a week, but I am wondering how intensive those classes are, for last semester I had 4 very intensive classes.
One thing I learned is that you can't really overthink it too much, and this is one of those times where it is best to just jump headfirst into it, and think about it later on once the opportunity has passed.
Goodspeed to you this year readers, whether it is a new job, a new school or class or simply just a new year.
Cheers,
Matthew Tan
